The purpose of the PTO is to support and enhance the educational experience of students at Galileo STEM Academy, foster positive relationships between parents, teachers, and staff, and promote open communication within the school community.

PTO Job Descriptions
President
Coordinates all work of the PTO, leads all meetings, liaison with principal, meets regularly with officers and chairs, check signer, manages website. Serves in all areas as needed.
- Time Commitment: Attends all meetings, a few hours per month.
- Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, leadership, organization, time management.
- Responsible For: All officers and committees.
Vice President
Implements duties delegated by president, represents president in their absence, may be called upon to assume presidential duties in time of need, check signer.
- Time Commitment: Attends all meetings, a few hours per month.
- Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, leadership, organization, time management.
- Responsible For: Staff Appreciation, Middle School Directors.
Secretary
Records the minutes and attendance of all meetings, maintains copies of all reports, assists President with creating meeting agendas, emails agenda out prior to meetings, manages PTO email and google drive.
- Time Commitment: Attends all meetings, several hours per month.
- Skills Needed: Strong written communication skills, organization, detail-oriented, skilled at note taking.
- Responsible For: Directory Chair.
Treasurer
Responsible for all financial aspects of the PTO, managing books and records, budgets, deposits, invoices and receipts for audit, prepares tax returns, check signer.
- Time Commitment: Attends all meetings, several hours per month, heavier hours setting up budget and end of month reconciliations.
- Skills: Accounting, strong written communication skills, organization, detail-oriented, time management.
- Responsible For: Assistant Treasurer.
Assistant Treasurer
Responsible for assisting Treasurer, check signer, may be called upon to assume treasurer duties in time of need.
- Time Commitment: Attends all meetings, couple hours per month, heavier hours setting up annual audit.
- Skills: Accounting, strong written communication skills, organization, detail-oriented, time management.
- Responsible For: Coordinating annual audit.
Communications and Media Director
Manages social media and website, promotes all PTO meetings/groups/events, coordinates monthly newsletter information.
- Time Commitment: Attends all meetings, several hours per month.
- Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, detail-oriented, organization, time management, basic Marketing.
Community Events Director
Coordinates all quarterly events, works with Communications Director to publicize all events, reports to president and executive board on events regularly.
- Time Commitment: Attends all meetings and events, a few hours per month working with team members, heavier hours leading up to events.
- Skills Needed: Strong written and verbal communication skills, organization, event planning, Accounting.
School Services Director
Coordinates all PTO ran clubs, meets as needed with club leads.
- Time Commitment: Attends all meetings, a few hours per month working with team members, heavier hours at beginning of year to setup clubs.
- Skills Needed: Strong written and verbal communication skills, organization, event planning, detail oriented.
- The following club leads report to this position: Meet the Masters, Running/Walking Club, Chess Club, BotBall, Junior BotBall, MathCounts, Middle School Art, Amateur Radio Club, Idaho Exhibition of Ideas.
Give Week Director
Coordinates Give Week fundraising efforts (implements program, work with Treasurer to collect funds, maintain proper accounting, work with Communications Director for publicizing event, and manage incentives), reports to president and executive board on event regularly.
- Time Commitment: Attends all meetings and give week events, several hours in the fall working with team members, heavier hours leading up to and during give week (done for the rest of the year).
- Skills Needed: Strong written and verbal communication skills, organization, event planning, Accounting.
Staff Appreciation Director
Coordinates monthly events for faculty and staff throughout the year, coordinates activities during Teacher Appreciation Week, works within a budget.
- Time Commitment: Attends all meetings and staff appreciation events, a few hours per month.
- Skills Needed: Organization, time management, detail-oriented, event planning.
Middle School Co-Director
Coordinates all middle school events throughout the year (Veteran’s Day Celebration, 4 quarterly events, 8th grade celebration, helps with Pi day celebration, end-of-year BBQ), works within a budget, liaison between middle school student council and PTO.
- Time Commitment: Attends all meetings and MS events, several hours per month.
- Skills Needed: Strong written and verbal communication skills, organization, event planning, Accounting.
Program Chairs/Coordinators
- Meet the Masters Coordinator: Coordinates National Meet the Masters art program throughout the year, recruits volunteers for each classroom, coordinates monthly artist, procures all supplies needed within a budget, works with school staff to coordinate both in-class artist program and clay projects throughout the year. Reports to School Services Director.
- Running and Walking Club: Coordinates bi-weekly walking/running program throughout the year, recruits volunteers, coordinates weekly awards, coordinated end of year awards, works within budget. Reports to School Services Director.
- Middle School Art Coordinator: Coordinates middle school art program that runs every Wednesday morning before school, creates weekly project, procures all needed supplies, works within a budget. Reports to School Services Director.
- Directory Chair: Works with staff and parents to update school directory and the beginning of the school year. Reports to Vice President.
