Amateur Radio Club

In the Galileo Amateur Radio Club, students prepare to test for amateur radio licenses and learn about amateur radio, including: circuit boards, radio frequencies, radio waves, antennas, Ohm’s Law, FCC guidelines for talking on a radio, codes and ciphers, the radio alphabet, and Morse code.  Students do not compete, but they have fun with Fox Hunts (finding a hidden beacon with a handheld radio)!

WHO:

4th – 8th grade students only. Capacity is limited to 10 students.

WHEN:

Starting September 28th, held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month AFTER school in Mrs. Kwid’s room (Room 302).

COST:

$35 / per participant **
